OPTIMALISASI KONSENTRASI BOKASHI AMPAS SAGU UNTUK MENINGKATKAN PERTUMBUHAN VEGETATIF BIBIT KAKAO (Theobroma cacao L.)

Abstract


National cocoa (Theobroma cacao L.) productivity currently faces fluctuations due to aging plantations and climate change, making the availability of high-quality seedlings a primary priority. This study aimed to evaluate the growth response of cocoa seedlings to the application of sago pulp bokashi as an organic ameliorant in the growing medium. The research was conducted at the Greenhouse of the Faculty of Agriculture, Forestry, and Marine Sciences, Ottow Geissler University of Papua, using a Completely Randomized Design (CRD). The experiment consisted of five bokashi dosage treatments (A0: control, A1: 200 g, A2: 250 g, A3: 300 g, and A4: 350 g per polybag), each replicated six times. Observed parameters included plant height, leaf number, leaf length, leaf width, and stem diameter at 72 Days After Planting (DAP). The results showed that sago pulp bokashi application significantly affected plant height, with the 300 g/polybag dosage (A3) yielding the optimal result of 41.61 cm. Furthermore, bokashi application tended to increase leaf length and width compared to the control. Although leaf number and stem diameter did not show statistically significant differences, there was a positive numerical growth trend observed with increasing bokashi dosages. In conclusion, the application of sago pulp bokashi at a dosage of 300 g/polybag is effective in enhancing the vegetative vigor of cocoa seedlings. This technology offers an innovative, cost-effective, and environmentally friendly solution for agro-industrial waste management to support the sustainable production of high-quality cocoa seedlings
