EVALUASI KESESUAIAN LAHAN UNTUK PENGEMBANGAN TANAMAN JAGUNG (Zea mays L.) DI KECAMATAN HERLANG, KABUPATEN BULUKUMBA

Abstract


Land evaluation is carried out so that land use planning can be well structuredl. In land use planning, it is necessary to know in advance potential and suitability of land for various types of land uses. Therefore, by conducting land evaluation, land potential can be identified or land suitability class or land capability for land uses. The purpose of this study was to determine the level of actual and potential land suitability of corn plants in Herlang District, Bulukumba Regency and to determine the limiting factors for actual and potential land suitability of maize crops in Herlang District, Bulukumba Regency. The method used in this research is descriptive data analysis survey method and land suitability class determination based on the FAO method. The results showed that the actual land suitability class for maize development in the Herlang district was marginal (S3) in land units 1,2,3,8 and 9 with available nutrient limiting factors (P2O5). Land units 4,5,6 and 7, actual land suitability is quite suitable (S2) with limiting factor temperature (annual average temperature) of root media (soil drainage and effective depth) nutrient retention (soil CEC and pH) available nutrients (P205 ) and erosion hazard level (erosion and slope hazard) Potential land suitability is quite suitable (S2) with temperature limiting factors (annual average temperature) found in all land units 1,2,3,4,5,6, 7,8,9, root media soil texture in land units3,7,8,9 and the slope of the slope is found in land units 3,5,6 and 9.
