UJI VIABILITAS BENIH PADI (Oryza sativa L) BERBAGAI VARIETAS LOKAL PADA UMUR SIMPAN YANG BERBEDA

Abstract


This research was conducted with the aim of knowing the viability of rice seeds of various local varieties, knowing the effect of seed shelf life on the viability of rice seeds, and knowing the interaction effect between the shelf life of various local varieties on the viability of rice seeds which was carried out at the Laboratory of the Center for Certification and Quality of Food Crop Seeds and Horticulture Maros and in the experimental field of Masamba District, North Luwu Regency, which took place from April to June 2023. This study used a completely randomized design (CRD) factorial pattern with two factors. The first factor was various local rice varieties consisting of 3 varieties namely Rampi, Dambo and Tarone. The second factor is the two seed shelf lives, namely 3 months and 5 months. From the two factors, 6 treatment combinations were obtained and repeated 3 times so that there were 18 experimental units. Parameters observed were germination rate, moisture content, maximum growth potential, plant height, number of leaves, plant fresh weight, and plant root length. The results showed that the treatment of rice varieties and the shelf life of the seeds had an influence on the parameters of plant height, where the Tarone variety with a shelf life of 3 months obtained the highest plant, namely 64.83 cm with the highest number of leaves, namely an average of 5.22 strands. The highest root length parameter for the Rampi variety with a shelf life of 3 months was 17.33 cm, and for the plant fresh weight parameter for the Dambo variety with a shelf life of 3 months, it was 3.53 g
