PENGARUH EKSTRAK DAUN KELOR SEBAGAI PRIMING ORGANIK TERHADAP VIABILITAS BENIH DAN VIGOR BIBIT JAGUNG (Zea mays L.)
Abstract
Effect of Moringa Leaf Extract as Organic Priming on Seed Viability and Vigor of Corn Seeds (Zea mays L.) under the guidance of Dr.Ir. Suraedah Alimuddin M.S and Dr.Ir. Abdullah M.Si. This study aimed to determine the effect of Moringa leaf extract concentration and duration of immersion of seeds as organic priming on viability and maize seed growth. This research was conducted at the Laboratory of Biotechnology and Crop Production, Faculty of Agriculture, Universitas Muslim Indonesia, Makassar, starting on September 5, 2020 until November 5, 2020. The study used a two-factorial completely randomized design (CRD) with three replications. The first factor, the concentration of Moringa leaf extract (0%,3%,6%,9%,12%) and immersion time (Priming) (8 hours, 12 hours, 16 hours). Observation parameters were germination, growth uniformity, growth speed, seedling height, seedling root length and dry weight of normal sprouts.The results of the F test on the analysis of variance showed that the concentration of Moringa leaf extract as organic priming had no significant effect on all observed parameters except for the length of the corn seed root. The results of the BNT test at 0.05 level showed that soaking Moringa leaf extract as organic priming produced the best root length at a concentration of 12% with a soaking time of 8 hours. Meanwhile, the duration of seed soaking (priming) had a significant effect on seed viability (germination rate and growth speed) and had no significant effect on corn seed vigor (growth uniformity, seedling height and normal germination dry weight (BKKN)). The results of the BNT test at 0.05 level showed that the treatment of soaking Moringa leaf extract for 12 hours gave the best results on germination and seed growth speed, namely 90.93% and 3.79%/etmal, respectively. There is a treatment interaction between the concentration of Moringa leaf extract and the duration of soaking the seeds on the root length of the maize seeds. The interaction between 12% Moringa leaf extract concentration treatment with 8 hours soaking time was significantly different from the 12% Moringa leaf extract concentration with 16 hours soaking time, but not significantly different at 12 hours soaking.
