Abstract

This study aims to determine the actual and potential land suitability of rice (Oryza sativa L.) and its limiting factors in Matakali District, Matakali District. The land survey was carried out with reference to the land unit, consisting of the preparation of basic data, field exploration, soil description, soil sampling, laboratory analysis and land suitability assessment for maize. The research method is the Framework Of Land Evaluation (FAO) method which is carried out by collecting data such as rainfall data for the last 5 years in Matakali District obtained from BMKG Majene and collecting base maps such as land use maps, soil type maps and slope maps with each scale. 1:75,000. The maps were overlaid so that 19 land units were obtained which were then grouped into 2 representative land units for soil sampling which was then analyzed in the laboratory. The analyzed properties are adjusted to the information needed in land suitability research based on the FAO method. The results of the analysis were evaluated for land suitability class, for rice plants based on the characteristics of the determined land. The results showed that the actual land suitability for rice plant development in Matakali District, Polewali Mandar Regency The actual land suitability for rice (Oryza sativa L.) development was generally marginal (S3fn) with limiting factors CEC, C-organic and P2O5.The suitability of potential land in Matakali District is generally improved by adding organic C, P, K fertilizers and the potential suitability class is S2r.
