EVALUASI KESESUAIAN LAHAN TANAMAN KOPI ARABIKA (Coffea arabica L.) DI KECAMATAN BINUANG,KABUPATEN POLEWALI MANDAR

Abstract


This study aims to determine the actual level, potential land suitability and limiting factors in land units for Arabica coffee plants in Binuang District, Polewali Mandar Regency. The land survey was carried out with reference to land units, which consisted of preparation of basic data, field exploration, soil description, soil sampling, laboratory analysis and land suitability assessment of arabica coffee plants. The research method used is the FAO method. by collecting rainfall data for the last 10 years of Binuang Regency obtained from BMKG Majene and land use maps, soil type maps and slope maps obtained from BPKH (Forest Area Stabilization Center) Region II Makassar. The maps are overlaid so that 2 land units are obtained. Soil samples analyzed in the laboratory include soil properties in accordance with the information required in land suitability research based on the FAO method. The data obtained are secondary data and primary data which are then compared with the criteria for land suitability for Arabica coffee plants according to FAO. The results showed that the actual land suitability for the development of arabica coffee plants in Binuang sub-district, the two land units for UL 13,22,21,23,14,10,19 and UL 6,15,11,18 were included in the land subitability class S3fne ( according to marginal) with limiting factors namely soil pH, organic C (f), P2O5 (n) and erosion hazard (e) . Potential land suitability for the development of arabica coffee plants in Binuang, Polewali Mandar District after improvements have been made by providing shade, making irrigation and providing organic matter so that it becomes a very suitable potential suitability class (S1).
