EVALUASI KESESUAIAN LAHAN TANAMAN JAGUNG (Zea mays L.) DI KECAMATAN BANGKALA KABUPATEN JENEPONTO

Abstract


Land is the physical environment which includes soil, climate, relief, hydrology and vegetation, where these factors influence potential use both in the past and in the future. The aim of the research is to determine the actual land suitability, potential and limiting factors for corn (Zea mays L.) in Bangkala District, Jeneponto Regency. The method used in this research is a survey method and determining land suitability classes based on the FAO method with limiting factors and land characteristics including. The research results show that the actual land suitability for cultivating corn is sufficient (S2) for endoaquepts and haplusults soil types with the limiting factors c-organic, P2O5 and K2O, salinity and slope. Efforts to improve the application of organic materials, SP-36 fertilization, KCl for making terrace mounds. Marginal suitability (S3) on eutrudepts and kandiudults soil types with the danger of erosion and slopes. Improvement efforts in making terraces are intended to slow down the rate of ground surface flow and accommodate more air to seep into the soil.
