RESPON TANAMAN CABAI RAWIT (Capsicum frutescens L.) VARIETAS DEWATA PADA KONDISI CEKAMAN SALINITAS

Abstract


The utilisation of saline soils for crop cultivation is due to the high levels of dissolved salts, mainly NaCl. Excessive salt uptake by plants will damage older leaves. Optimising the use of saline soil can be done by using varieties that are tolerant of saline soil such as salinity-tolerant cayenne pepper varieties. This study aims to determine the concentration of salinity that can be tolerated by cayenne pepper plants of the dewata variety. This research was conducted in April 2023, in Pangkajene and Islands Regency. This research was arranged using a Randomised Group Design (RAK) with 6 treatment levels, namely control (0 ppm), K1 (2,500 ppm), K2 (5,000 ppm), K3 (7,500 ppm), K4 (10,000 ppm) and K5 (12,500 ppm) with 3 replications, each replication contained 2 polybags of plants. The results showed that cayenne pepper plants of Dewata variety were tolerant and effective for vegetative and generative growth in the application of NaCl solution of 2,500 ppm, 5,000 ppm, and 7,500 ppm. Cayenne pepper plants experience stress when giving NaCl concentrations of 10,000 ppm and 12,500 ppm
