EVALUASI KESESUAIAN LAHAN UNTUK PENGEMBANGAN TANAMAN KOPI ARABIKA (Coffea arabica L.) DI KECAMATAN BUNGAYA, KABUPATEN GOWA

Abstract


This study aims to determine the level of actual, potential land suitability and limiting factors in land units for Arabica coffee plants in Bungaya District, Gowa Regency. The land survey was carried out by referring to land units, consisting of compilation of basic data, field exploration, soil descriptions, soil sampling, laboratory analysis and land suitability assessment of Arabica coffee plants.The research method is the FAO method which is carried out by collecting rainfall data for the last 5 years of Bungaya District obtained from BMKG Maros and land use maps, soil type maps and slope maps obtained from BPKH (Forest Area Consolidation Center) Region II Makassar. The maps are overlaid / overlapping to obtain 2 land units. Soil samples analyzed in the laboratory include soil properties according to the information required in land suitability research based on the FAO method. The data obtained were both secondary data and primary data which were then compared with the Arabica coffee plant land suitability criteria according to FAO.The results showed that the actual land suitability for the development of arabika coffee plants in bungaya district, the two land units for UL1 and UL2 belong to the S3twf land subitability class (according to marginal) with limiting factors, namely temperature (t), rainfall (w) and C-organic (f).The Potential land suitability for the development of Arabica coffee plants in Bungaya District after improvements were made by providing shade, making irrigation and providing organic matter so that UL1 became land suitability class S2tw, temperature (t), rainfall (w), then at UL2 after repairs were made by providing shade, manufacture irrigation and providing organic matter so that UL2 becomes land suitability class S2twr, temperature (t), rainfall (w) and soil texture(r).
